Gen Z is the generation born around 1997 to 2012 and this is the first generation that we have never encountered. They were raised in a society of smart phones, social media, memes, and immediate access to information.

As their attention spans continue to shrink and content options continue to grow, the question across the board is frequently: How do we make content that actually resonates with Gen Z?

The solution is the knowledge of their mindset, values, and digital habits. The following is a rudimentary tip on how to create content that will appeal to Gen Z.

1. Be Authentic, Not Perfect

The Gen Z dislike highly-polished or staged content. They like unpolished, authentic and close to themselves instead of glossy advertising. They speak in authenticity. Behind the scenes, confession, and truth telling.

Rather than aspiring to be perfect, be authentic.

As an example, an apparel brand with unedited customer ratings or a social media creator with bloopers in their reel will tend to have a higher connection than a fake photoshoot.

2. Keep It Short and Snackable

Gen z feeds on information in short bursts. Short entertaining content is proven to attract attention on platforms such as Tik Tok, Instagram reels, and Youtube shorts. Your message should not take more than 30 seconds to be comprehended otherwise you may lose them.

It does not imply that long-form content is no longer alive, it only demands that it is interesting right at the very beginning. Hooks, captions, and the methods of narration will help them to continue watching.

3. Visuals > Words

Gen Z is highly visual. Memes, infographics, GIFs, videos are much better compared to post-heavy posts. They scroll fast so your images have to interrupt them on the way. Your content is unique because of bright colours, fashionable edits and relatable formats.

Consider the case: do they want to read a 500-word essay about climate change awareness, or do they want to see a creative reel with its effects in a rather odd, visual manner?

4. Value-Driven Messaging

This generation has an interest in causes: sustainability, inclusivity, mental wellness and equality. Brands and creators that represent something meaningful are liked by them. Assuming that the values that you reflect in your content resonate with their beliefs, you will gain some loyalty.

Nevertheless, keep in mind that fake activism is immediately identified by Gen Z. Don’t simply practice using trending hashtags to gain traction, and support what you say with what you do, be it through environmentally friendly packaging, donations, or awareness efforts.

5. Speak Their Language

Gen Z have their own language- slang, emojis, and memes constitute a large portion of their communication.

Although you do not need to force yourself to use each trend, you can keep yourself updated and change your tone.

Incidental, conversational writing is best. Do not be too formal or salesy. Rather than saying, Buy now to get the best experience, use, This is literally the vibe you didn’t need.

6. Encourage Interaction

Gen Z does not need to be content consumers, they also desire to be involved. Polls, quizzes, choose your ending type stories, duets, and comment based interactions all keep them entertained. Others, make them feel as part of the journey.

As an example, rather than merely uploading a reel of a new product, request them to answer the following: What color should we release next? or Duet this with your version! Such interaction develops community.

7. Collaborate with Creators They Trust

Gen Z listens to influencers and micro-creators than celebrities. They have faith in peer reviews than in the advertisements of the brand. Collaboration with personalities relatable to your audience can increase your exposure and help your brand feel genuine.

Final Thoughts

The cases of Gen Z are not difficult to comprehend when you look at them as they are the digital natives with strong values, keen sense of authenticity and fondness to the interactive and visual content.

In order to connect with them, it is important to sell less and talk more and tell stories, connect and mean.

When your content feels real, fun and aligned to their world, Gen Z will not only engage with it but they will make it go viral.
